Brunei reported close to 4,000 new coronavirus cases yesterday.

A total of 3,969 new cases were recorded, bringing the total counts of confirmed cases to 55,485 cases, of which 2,974 came from the ART test results uploaded to the Ministry of Health’s portal, whereas 995 were from 3,272 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

Despite the rising number in daily cases, recovered cases also increased, with 2,675 cases recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 27,527. Meanwhile, active cases are 27,841.

The bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is 8.5%, where 286 active cases are placed in isolation centres, and remaining active cases are undergoing home-self isolation.

Current status of the National Vaccination Programme

As of February 25, a total of 53.4% of the overall population received three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, meanwhile, over 94% of the population received one dose and two doses, respectively.

Special permission to work for red colour BruHealth code

The Health Minister further clarified close contacts who have a red BruHealth code are given special permission to work, only for Government officials in the Civil Service, as mentioned in a previous press conference on February 14.

“In addition, this special permission has also been given to certain employees in the oil and gas sector. However, any employee in the private sector who has a red BruHealth code may be considered by the management of their respective companies to attend work,” he said.

He further explained that it must be following the guidelines (SOP) issued to Civil Servants, if necessary – they are required to comply with conditions including having two doses of vaccination – performing ART daily during the supposed period of quarantine and movement only from home to work.

Restriction violators receive fined

For the movement restrictions carried out yesterday from 12 midnight until 4 am, no violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines.
