The Covid-19 cases in the sultanate continue to increase with another 44 new cases reported yesterday, bringing the national confirmed cases to 16,006 of which 31 were local and 13 imported cases.

Active cases are currently at 364 cases, meanwhile, 50 cases have recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 15,600. The bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is currently at 8.9%.

The results came from 2,333 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours. The rate of the positive case was at 1.9%.

Currently, no cases were identified in Category 4  and Category 5, and no death case was reported within 24 hours.

The current status of the National Vaccination Programme

As of January 20, 94.7% of the population has received one dose of vaccine, meanwhile, 93.9% of the population has been successfully inoculated against the Covid-19 infection. 

In addition, individuals who have received their three doses or booster are currently at 36%, showing an increase since the administration of the booster for the public.

Restriction violators receive fined
No violations of the directive nationwide were issued including out-of-house restriction from 12 midnight to 4 AM on Friday.
