Brunei Darussalam hit 56 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, the highest since the country entered the Endemic Phase on December 15. The Ministry of Health has classified 41 cases as locals and 15 imported cases. This brings the overall confirmed Covid-19 cases to 15,957.
Active cases continue to surge, which currently hit 383 cases, meanwhile, 20 cases have recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 15,472. The bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is presently at 9.2%.
The results came from 3,407 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours. The rate of the positive case was at 1.6%.
One case is currently identified in Category 4 under close monitoring and requires oxygen assistance, and no cases were found in Category 5.
The current status of the National Vaccination Programme
As of January 17, 94.7% of the population has received one dose of vaccine, meanwhile, 93.8% of the population has been successfully inoculated against the Covid-19 infection.
In addition, individuals who have received their three doses or booster are currently at 34%, showing an increase since the administration of the booster for the public last month.
Restriction violators receive fined
No directive violations nationwide were issued, including out-of-house restriction from 12 midnight to 4 AM on Tuesday.
