Sultan calls to shape responsible, progressive and empowering youths

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam urged the youth to develop themselves to be a truly responsible, progressive and empowered citizens.

Youth’s readiness, the monarch underlined their presence is awaited based on their active, energetic, and spirit in assisting in any unforeseen circumstances.

“This is what the community and country need from the youths – their deeds in the form of energy and moral contributions,” said His Majesty in the titah during the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) Hari Raya celebration on Thursday.

His Majesty further added the youths are highly praised with various titles such as Belia Harapan Bangsa, Belia Wira Bangsa, or Belia Pelita Zaman. These are set to be their obligations to meet the titles and recognition as the driving force and supporters of development that has the potential to take the country forward.

“This recognition must be maintained with noble personality, visionary, creativity, and knowledge, not for being weak lulled by less beneficial pleasures,” said the monarch.

Seeing the world is still struggling with the Covid-19 and its severe effects, His Majesty expressed gratitude to Allah the Almighty for seeing the sultanate with systematic strategies and able to control the infection and maintain life continuity and economic development.

“We, in our way, have never stopped from seeking Allah’s protection through istighfar, reading Al-Quran, reciting zikir and selawat to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In ShaaAllah, such approach will continue to be carried out as an effort and measure to fulfil the religion’s requirements,” said His Majesty.
