Five kids aged 7 to 12 were awarded the top achiever in a BIBD entrepreneurship programme.

Five “kidpreneurs” were recently awarded for achieving top sales at the culmination of The Kasturi Stand, an entrepreneurship mentoring programme for children aged 7 to 12, which BIBD organised as part of the 90 Days of Community initiative.

Throughout December, kidpreneurs were enrolled in online workshops with local industry mentors who guided them on ideation, product development, sustainability, and marketing.

Each participant was required to set up their own online business on the Community for Brunei Virtual Marketplace at the end of the programme.

BIBD’s Chief Marketing Officer Hjh Nurul Akmar binti Hj Mohd Jaafar said, “We are extremely proud of our young entrepreneurs for the commitment, dedication, and confidence. The Kasturi Stand is intended to be a fun yet meaningful way of instilling a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship at an early age and giving young budding entrepreneurs the support they need to help them realise their dreams of owning a micro-business,”

“We hope that The Kasturi Stand will be a starting point for our kidpreneurs and that they will continue on their business journey,” she added.

Amalia’s Desserts, run by Amalia Maisarah binti Hj Shayfol Khairin; Epic Surprise Box run by Ethan Han; Kayli’s Krafts run by Lai Kayli; Aleenas Cookies run by Dk Amanda Aleena Pg Saiful Ismail; and Rad Cactus Co run by Rania Aleesya Sateria, Rayyan Ar-Rasyid, and Md Amir Fuad bin Jofri were each awarded with a B$200 kickstarter fund for achieving top sales in their online businesses.

The Kasturi Stand was organised as part of 90 Days of Community, an initiative to highlight local creative businesses and provide an opportunity for new innovative enterprises to become part of the local MSME ecosystem.

BIBD is also currently organising a 10-part series of industry-specific talks and networking forums to help established businesses recover sustainably after the previous year’s challenges.

The Session 2 of the BIBD SME360 Series, focusing on the retail industry, will begin on January 25. Further details can be found on BIBD’s social media accounts, and members of the public who are interested in signing up can directly click tinyurl.com/sme360-retail
