Brunei has recently received a donation of 870,000 face masks from the Government of Canada.
Present to hand over the donation in the form of a mock cheque was the High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Jeanette Stovel and was received by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Awang Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin.
The in-kind contribution to Brunei is part of a larger contribution of 9.5 million items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to the ASEAN Secretariat and seven ASEAN Member States, valued at approximately USD 31.6 million. The donation will help build the health security capacity to respond to COVID-19 in the ASEAN region.
“Canada is committed to playing its part and responding to the needs of our partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Our contribution of PPE to ASEAN ensures member nations have access to the necessary equipment that can make inclusive public health and pandemic recovery possible”, said Her Excellency Jeanette Stovel.
“Canada is committed to continuing its collaboration with ASEAN to support pandemic recovery in the Indo-Pacific region.
